Diagnostic Program For Finding Stuttering

At this point i am giving up the hunt for the red baron of stuttering that is causing my computer so much trouble during normal operation. I mean i have a gaming rig there is absolutely no excuse for these stutters when i'm not doing anything THAT intensive.

This issue has severely impacted my ability to play games on my computer and i just want to be rid of it, even if it means delete win 10 form my pc and getting linux at this point. because to be honest the only reason i have stuck with windows for this long was the gaming and now even that has been affected.

The diagnostic tool should be one that can suggest possible fixes like changes to settings or something or at the very least point out what program is causing me so much grief.

I've gone as far as using regedit to fix a problem win 10 has been giving me and at this point regedit is probably what i'm gonna have to use to stop this nonsense once and for all.

Be for you give up on windows....Why don't you try and revert back to windows 7 64bit and see if this causes any issues on a secondary drive.

Windows 7 is still good for updates untill 2020..

I have been using since it came out and still don't get any lags or errors or Blue Screen of Death messages.I have not had BOSD in two years.

I can run games on medium to high settings with this 500 dollars laptop i am running.I can run GTA 5 of medium settings and still watch movies and listen to music.

I am all so thinking what type of hard drive are you running windows on..If it's a Hard Drive Or HDD then most likely it could be your current issue. If you are running a Solid State Drive you should not be having any lag issues with that unless it's a lower end SSD

If you are running any of these...I would all so do a chkdsk /f

If you have not run a check disk in a while there could be errors on your drive...Check Disk \ F will require a reboot...To do a full system C scan..

I am not sure what you have tried so far.

After that check disk in command prompt,I would all so run a SFC /scannow command.Make sure you have them as elevated privileges.

And most likely the stuttering effect is probably caused by bad errors on your hard drive or SSD.

because the controlling microsoft corporation won't let you revert back after you've had win 10 for 30 days i'm way beyond that point. Fact is these problems started showing up after the 30 day period so i ended up in a bad way thanks to them. Honestly if their next os is even half as bad as this one is linux is for me. Because at least i won't be stuck with an os that hemorages speed. I'll run a check disk to see if there are any serious errors.

This last stutter was bad enough that the video and audio on my computer completely cut out. The audio quickly came back but the video took a while to return. And the stuttering was still pretty bad afterwards.

Hopefully chkdsk fixed the issue but i probably won't find out for a while since i just restarted.

and no it did not fix the issue so it isn't some kind of error or perhaps it is just one that chkdsk can't fix.

    * 10 day rollback period as of the August update 2016, iirc.

Do you have an SSD or HDD, if SSD, which make/model?

i have both but windows is on an ssd. as for the model it's a micron m550, although i really need that diagnostic tool to find the origin point of these stutters. If i know whats cuasing it maybe i can do something about it

I'm fairly certain the issue is software not hardware as changing around a setting on a program caused the stutters to go away for a while then they came back full force.

I am leaning more to hardware then..

How many Ram's Sticks you have 2 or 4 And how many gigs.

I would try this Take out all of your ram sticks but one...Then see if the stuttering continues...If it is working fine with one ram stick take that one out and test another one...Repeat process with other ram sticks.

If stuttering happens with one of the ram sticks...You might need to replace one or both or all depending how many you have.

the stuttering started when i upgrade to windows 10 so i don't think it's the hardware causing it prior to upgrading my computer ran fine. I do notice that using the magnifier makes the stuttering worse but it also present in fullscreen mode videos on occasion.. As for ram sticks thats the thing that's actually in the computer right? If so i do not want to go messing around in there.

Besides i'm pretty certain i only have one and it's a 16 gb one.

Could be minor OS corruption, maybe a setting from prior to the last update/upgrade now causing problems since Windows files/settings have been altered (some changes may not have been published nor discovered yet!). Seeing similar reports mentioning System/Windows Defender implicated and impacting CPU/disk since 1803 was pushed out.

Your upgrade was to W10 from 7/8.1, gone through several W10 updates and is fully updated?

Details on the graphics/CPU in your PC, please?

All hardware drivers are up to date, managed by W10 or manually?

Turning off windows defender seems to have helped but i'll have to wait and see to be sure i turn off a feature in magnifier and got similar results and for a whil e things worked normally before getting back to terrible amounts of stuttering. The stuttering is still there but isn't as bad as it has been.

And we're back to square one changing a setting helped for a while but it ultimately just went back to stutteiring as bad as it used to. I'm starting to think i'd be beter off just getting a linux cuz at least if something is wrong with a linux i have the option to go back to a previous version unlike windows.

I can always just use virtual box for all my gaming needs. besides i stopped liking microsoft a while ago only reason i stuck with them thus far was because their os was good for gaming and they even managed to screw that up like everything else they touch. Companies these days just don't understand what quality is anymore. It seems like all they care about is the next best thing not whther or not it is actually any good or not. Whatever happened to quality control huh?

i think at this point i'll be installing ubuntu as a dual boot, and using that as my primary os until this issue is resolved. Because quite frankly i don't see this issue getting resolved anytime soon. We haven't even foundout what's causing this issue to begin with let alone begun to fix it.

I had a brilliant idea maybe. What if i uninstalled win 10 using linix then reinstall win 8.1 using linux back onto the c drive? I'll definitely be keeping linux around in case further issues arise but that way whatever problem i'll be having goes out with the os that started the problem to begin with.
