Diagnostic Software

Hi all,

I'm after ur advice of a decent piece of diagnostic software, payware or freeware is fine. I just want it to be easy to use, without having to do dozens of benchmarks manually to find problem as per usual. I presume a one click 'This is what is wrong with your computer' wizard is out of question? Also would be helpful if it ran on Windows 98-XP

pcpitstop.com does a decent job of that. I disagree with their temporary internet file settings because they are too low for todays large hard drives, but still pretty decent.

Next up, there are suites, like Nortons that will tell you whats wrong and fix it, but usually these programs are not very good. Large system overhead and instabilities. Too many variations of hardware or software.

My big thing is being sure your Windows Updates, drivers, antivirus, firewall and antispyware tools are up to date and used regulalry.

Ok thanks for that, this is for repair jobs, so anything preventative is no use. I'll have a look at those u suggest.

Is it personal or business? We have a good diagnostic utility, but its 400 bucks. If theres something specific I can answer regarding a problem, let us know.

Yes its for business, only small though, so that kind of kit is out of reach at the moment. Sounds nice tho

Anyone worked with VCOM SystemSuite? If so is better or worse at maintenance than say Norton SystemWorks?
