I have an rj11 cable but have an rj45 connection (LAN) at the back of my computer.
The rj11 connector is smaller than an rj45 connector but it fits into the rj45 connection.
The question I have is would I be able to connect to a dial-up connection with this setup?
    Thanks.

It is not a matter of plug or cable. DialUp works with analog modem.

The RJ-45 belongs to the computer's network card.

It is like trying to put water into the car;s gas tank because Gas is liquid, and Water is liquid too.

You will also short out your phone line if you plug it into an ethernet port. I have customers do this quite often.
