    Hiya!
I've found a program DIALER in my program files, that allows me to use my computer to dial a phone if I have my internet lead plugged in (I use dial-up internet). It works and calls the number I type in, I can hear the person answer, but my microphone doesn't work & allow the recipient to hear me. The microphone works with other applications, so any clues as how to get DIALER to recognise it?
Also if I had broadband, would DIALER be able to use that to call people as well? and if so would it be at no extra cost, or would it be charged by my telephone service provider, eg BT?

    Thank you!!

DIALER is simply using your active phone line as a telephone. if you didnt pay for phone service, DIALER would not work.

broadband doesnt use the same protocol as a standard telephony modem does, so DIALER would again not work.

as far as getting the microphone to work, you might just have to turn up the microphone volume in the 'Recording Control':

double click the sound icon in your task bar to bring up Volume Control.
From there, go to File>Properties, and select the Adjust volume for 'Recording' radio button. make sure that Microphone is checked in the boxes below.

now you can adjust the microphone properties and try to get it working corectly.

Also, be sure to look in the properties of DIALER and set the recording device to your microphone.

    good luck!
