Dialers

What is a dialer? I know that has to be a stupid question, but not when adaware tells you that you have a 1003 of them....i got rid of them (hopefully).

 

They are small programs that execute themselves in the same way a virus would. They are installed onto your computer without your knowledge. What the program tries to do is to establish a connection via a modem to connect to a server. These little buggers can hit you in the wallet big time. Most are dialers for porn sites, others are used for ad agencies. They will use your phone line to dial out to remote locations around the globe racking up on hell of a phone bill for you.
