didnt get license# after downloading new avg

i downloaded the new version of avg but it didnt ask me for my email so i could get a license # to enter what should i do? in my control panel for add and remove programs it shows i have the old version but i cant find it anywhere else and i cant delete from my add and remove programs

 

You need to go to the author's site, www.grisoft.com , and follow the download procedure there to get a license code emailed to you (whether you actually downlaod it from there or not). You can download it from majorgeeks, but as you experienced, it is simply a download-- no code is supplied, nor is any email address requested.

You are not seeing the new version in Add/Remove, because you have not installed it yet. When you ultimately do, it will uninstall the old version automatically for you.
