    Aloha All,
Prior to getting rid of XPsp3, I saved my files and settings with XP-FAST on a USB stick. I now have a useless .dat file that Win7 Easy Transfer can't use to identify and load the saved files and settings. My research has come up with nothing usefull. Is there a work around or 3rd party software that can unload the .dat file and then reload converting to a usefull file type for WIN Easy Transfer.
Thanks in advance for all responses.

Does your version of Win7 have the XP virtual mode? Or you can use VMplayer or Virtualbox and make a XP machine to recover your data in and transfer it out of the VM to your Win 7 PC.

    Aloha Foogoo,
Thx for the reply and my options...The virtual pc mode requires 2 things, the apprpriate CPU (I have it) and the correct V of Win7 (I don't have). So unless there's an addon from a 3rd party, I'm o-o-l with the 1st option...my preferred.
So now on to option 2...I will research the use VMplayer or Virtualbox, and see if they can be used without confusion.
thx again for the options...I'll post a supplemental when I'm done...may take a few days.
    Many mahalos...konadon

Just a thought as I'm not sure if you formatted before installing Win7 but I found that going from XP to Win7 that Win7 created the Windows.old folder which saved most of my files from XP even though I told it not to bother. You might just check C: drive to see if Win7 created that folder.

    Aloha sach2,
thanks for the comment...no I didn't format before installing Win7, infact, my old harddrive with WINXP-SP3 is now useless, as the new system will not recognize the harddrive. I have an external case that I can put it into but it seems like a lot of work especially if I can get "virtual box" to work and just accomplish my objective virtually.
    mahalo...konadon:(
