    Hello all,

I hope this post is in the right forum.

What are the differences between an image scanner and a scanner capable of producing searchable text, in terms of hardware and software?

Are there programs that can convert image-scanned text into searchable text?

Lastly, does anyone know of a TWAIN that will work with the Epson Perfection 1260 scanner on Windows 10?

    Thanks,

    Kurt

Text within image files is extracted by OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software, it isn't a hardware issue at all. There are websites that will do limited OCR for free, I've recently been using OnlineOCR with good success rate. I have an old Epson Perfection 1260 that works fine on my XP VM but never tested on Win 10 as I now use a Canon All-in-One.
