ok well here goes... after hours of scouting for possible answers...
I had everything working before i went to my friends house to play some bf2 there. I have a 5.1 system at my place and everything worked smoothly, no issues whatsoever. I used his monitor speakers when i was gaming it at his place..i noticed upon start up, something said system changes complete or something to that effect, i pressed cancel thinking nothing would change. Anywhoo, we played np, but when i got home i couldnt get my audio working anymore. I have tried removing, reinstalling drivers etc.. On a strange note, when i reisntall the audio drivers, my speakers settings are not being set to 5.1, they are under desktop for both, control panel sound and realtek hd sound. Specs are
ga-p35 ds3L, was using onboard hd sound, xp pro sp2, not sure what other info would be relevant to this audio issue.... Again all this happened when i went to game it for a few hours!!! eeek thanks to anyone for even taking time to read this!!

Let me guess, changed the settings back to 5.1?
If you read this it would help others, if you post what you did to fix the problem.
