    Hi All.
Best wishes for a Happy Christmas to all members.

Am having difficulty connecting to internet with My Medion MD96290
    Vista laptop.
Often I have to make several restarts before the machine connects to the internet.
When it does connect a green wi fi light activates.
Sometimes I get a message saying that Windows cannot find any networks.
At other times it might say Access: Local Only.
The again, it might say that networks are available.
The modem has been checked out and is working fine and works perfectly with other devices.
It can take me 20 minutes to half an hour to get going in the mornings by the time the laptop finally connects to the internet after 4, 5, or 6 restarts.

Go into Device Manager, right click wifi adapter under Network adapters and choose uninstall and reboot.
Try finding an updated driver if possible and install if 1st suggestion does not help.

There are some very smart geeks who will read your post and you need to help them help you. You can do that by providing a bunch of important information about your computer, the programs you're running, hardware settings, etc. To do this, just follow along and I'll walk you through it.

OK, first I need you to download a program called Speccy from the following page:

    http://majorgeeks.com/Speccy_d6358.html

Install the program and don't change any of the settings. Just leave them at their default settings
Run the program and let it analyze your system (takes less than 30 seconds). When it finishes click FILE >>Save As Text
Save the text file to your desktop.
Go to your desktop and open the text file with notepad (just double click on it). Edit out any personal information including serial numbers, then save it.
If you know how to archive files using the ZIP or RAR format then go ahead and archive the text file. If not, then don't worry about it, just leave the text file as it is.

Then go to http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=86880 to learn how to attach a file to your post.

Post another message in this thread with the aforementioned text file attached.

That will give people here something to work with in diagnosing your problem.

    Many thanks.
I was afraid to uninstall and to reboot my machine in case I was left
    with nothing.
Windows says that the best available driver is already installed and is
    up to date.
It is Atheros AR5007UG Wireless Network Adapter.

    Thanks.
    Will do that.
Don't know how to use Zip or Rar archive, but will work away at getting required info.

    4 devices had outdated drivers
Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset Family X 2
    Realtek High Definition Audio
    Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller.

Would appreciate your views before doing anything further.
Should updating these help to solve problem?
