digital video recorder

i want to go out for a long trip.but i care about the safety of my house.so i want to buy something convenient to alarm.besides DVR,any others ?:confused

Cheaper than a standalone DVR and camera setup, which I have went to now. The advantages of a standalone DVR - always on & no CPU resources.
Disadvantages - running cable, because wireless cams stink.

They have a DVR for $99. I got the DVR and 4 cameras. There are a few to choose from, just depends on what you want, large storage, night vision, web remote, smartphone access, field of view...
