Digitising And Saving Video.

NTSC to USB converters are fairly inexpensive. I would like to be able to save this data on a thumb drive in a playable format, probably MP3. How would I go about doing that?

 

You want to "convert" NTSC (video) to MP3 (audio)? What is the source? It might be easier to just rip audio.. little more info please.

it worked great the first time I tried it, but now the digitizer stopped working and nothing I try seems to work. I created a 2.3 GB MPG file. It ( the included software) also stubbornly refuses to edit that file. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the software several times (along w/ restarting the computer several times. I'll call tech support tomorrow bright and early. The file I made looks very good.

 

It is a MPG file (which is a video standard). Not aMP3. The core problem is the software that came with it. I suspect Amazon knows the software is flawed, because they do not offer any tech support on it. I need some video digitizing and editing software that will work with this device. I am willing to spend some money to get it. It needs to work with Windows 10 I suspect this was written for Windows 98SE. Given the ginormous file size it is no wonder that it doesn't work. Any recommendations for software?

 

At this point I would be interested in recommendations. It seems that a lot of the software to do this is very dated. Which is what I believe happened to me. I wound up setting up a return with Amazon. If I get some good digitising software I can always change my mind.

 

If there were a way of on installing this software in such a way that it left no trace I think I might be able to use it. But that does not seem to be the case. I tried deleting the directory it was put in. But it still did not need the product key which says that it was still there. Is there any way of doing a truly fresh install every time?

 

At least Roxio is a name brand and says it supports up to Win 10, search Amazon for Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3 Plus.

 

So I installed Revo Uninstaller, no joy. I went and bought this one with no success Malwarebytes did not like any part of this package. After I tried tech support tomorrow I will probably return this purchase and that might actually cover most of the Roxio package, which I have put in my cart and saved for later. Who knew that this would be such a PITA? I'll let you all know how it goes.

Sorry guys I thought I had finished this thread. I got the roxio version and it worked very well indeed, the install was a little rocky but once I got through that it is very reliable. The USB converter gets very hot I so I have it on a USB hub happens to have on off switches and I leave it in the off position when I'm not using it. I would give it high marks.

 

Perhaps direct a small fan at the hub while using it? If you really want to get creative, you could zip tie a heat sink to it.
