I just downloaded digsby from http://majorgeeks.com/Digsby_d6022.html it says it does not have any malware though it does have.

Upon installing it,it changed my default start page to babylon plugin and installed babylon both to internet explorer and mozilla firefox.

Now the problem with babylon is that while there is an uninstall button on my virtual pc machine that has windows xp sp3 i could not make the plugin in internet explorer to go away. The babylon was uninstalled yet the plugin remained and the whole folder of babylon remained in c:\program files\babylon i had to delete it myself and then the plugin was still there but internet explorer showed that it is missing.

I had to use regedit to get rid of it.And it was still showing up on internet explorer plugins so while in http://majorgeeks.com/Digsby_d6022.html it says "Editors note: This is the clean install." i think it still has some problems.

Can you guys do something about it?It's so annoying to install something that installs toolbars that then when you uninstall them they leave something behind that one has to use registry editors to get rid of.And it didn't ask me if i want babylon toolbar to be installed. So i think digsby is still malware infected.

    Kind regards

When you download it and install things you need to be careful with it. Because when you 1st install it it ask do you want to be part of the donate thing(unclick that if you want). Then it comes up to adding the toolbars on the computer and if you want these then click"I accept" or "I decline" and all you do is click I decline and it continues to install. I think pretty much you just clicked quickly/without really reading the print. Normally people when downloading and installing something just clicks I accept I accept and the Okays and not really see what is marked to install like toolbars and etc..

It did not really ask me regarding Babylon.I think that's the problem,it does not ask you about it.I will check it again tomorrow as i have to sleep right now.

Edit:You are right...Unfortunately the accept decline page was for the toolbar.I thought that the accept decline was wether i accept the conditions to install and use digsby.Plus there is the donate part that i had to unclick like you said.I think that 2 times to have to unclick it is not good part for a software like this.I thought that it should have one toolbar but 2 options?Seems many to me and a trap to make users install it if they click fast like i did.

So it seems that Digsby can indeed be installed without the babylon toolbar.
Moderators if you feel it is appropriate rename or close the thread.
Sorry for any misconception.I just have to be again more careful in the future. It seems that in each and every program a simple accept or decline may torture and punish a user if he decides to do it quickly.

    Kind regards
