How do I find out which one of these is the problem (Inverter, Backlight, Graphic Chip). I have a Compaq Presario M2000 (m2401xt) Laptop.

I have used a flashlight on the screen and I can see what is on the screen

I have gone to the control panel and made sure that the display was set on default and rebooted

I have pushed the F4 button and it still remains dim.

Where is the best place to get what I need?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can see your image, so your graphic chip and driver are working. As I suspect you have more than one internal CCFT (fluorescent tube) it is very unlikely that 2 or more would fail at the same time. That leaves the inverter circuit or its connectors. A loose connector or loose wire ( result of a bump or drop) is possible. However, the inverter board is your prime suspect.:)
