Direct X, how do i know?

    hello fellow geeks ;) ,

    this is mammageek here asking another dumb question. i want to get a software program that says i need:

    1. 4 MB Direct X 8.1-compatible video card (16 MB recommended) that can display 256 color and monitor that can display 1024 x 768 resolution

    2. DirectX 8.1-compatible sound card


    i have no idea if my computer has this or not..........PLEASE help! :eek: how do i find out if it does....what do i do to check. i have winxp!

    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. Type dxdiag, and then click OK.
    3. On the System tab, note the version of DirectX displayed on the DirectX Version line.
    4. On the DirectX Files tab, check the version information for each DirectX file.
    5. When you are finished checking file versions, click Exit.
