direct x problem's :/

just installed starfllet commander 3 ive had the game installed b4 on my old hard drive but now everytime i stat the game it goes past the 1st couple intro sequences but when it comes time to load the menu i get a message direct x 8.1 not installed and the game freezes untill i shut it down ive got direct x 9 and ive tried installing the direct x rom the actual game but no luck can sum1 please give me some more sugestions

 

that game requires a patch to run properly with Directx 9 see here

Looks like that site requires you to be a member but i expect if you search the net or the game makers website you will be able to find it

mmmm thats a bit of a downer man i was reading about this game earlier and found this, could be problems with trying to re-install DX 8-1 over DX9 i notice you have build 531 the newest patch just out is 534 and its a fairly detailed install, which mentions the DX9 issues go here and follow these instructions and hopefully it will all work out
