Direct X Windows update

I get an error saying that the update provided by windows update is not certified by Microsoft when I download it and that it will not be installed, however it apparently does install it because it lists it under history as a successful install. This hasn't been the first time this has happened to me as with the critical updates I mentioned a similar issue. Any help or ideas on what it could be? I am sort of thinking this may cause bigger problems down the line so aside from the current issue I am also looking to prevent anything potentially harmful. Any help is much appreciated.

By the way, although it does list it as installed another scan for updates will list it as downloadable again, so it really isn't.

 

Windows update is known for messing those things up quite a bit. If it's still up for download i'd suggest simply downloading and installing it again. It's a bit of a pain but it shouldn't cause you any extra problems.

If you really want you could press windows+r and type dxdiag and press return. That will tell you want version of directx is currently running on your computer so you could confirm if it installed or not that way.

 

Mate I think unless some service pack comes out or something crucial comes into your notice or your OS behaves strangely, you should not go for uncertified updates. For example, I do not use windows update unless I face any problem.

 

What do you mean by uncertified? Everyting released on windows update is released by microsoft and as such certified by microsoft. Who else are you expecting to certify your windows updates?

Check date and time.

Try to install it from Safe Mode.
