    Hi,

I can't figure out what is going on with my computer. I am having a problem with in game 3d graphics, lots of distortion, multiple pixels, converging lines leading from 3d objects etc. Looks very weird and is totally unplayable!

I ran dxdiag. and decided to test the graphics acceleration etc. Direct draw works fine but the Direct 3d shows nothing just a black screen. No nice 3d Directx box pivoting as it should.

My card is a nVidia 6800 XT 256MB,in an Athlon xp 2800+,1 gig OCZ Platinum ram,250 gig Hard drive,Windows XP version 2,Directx 9.0c.

My Graphic drivers are up to date.So why can't I see anything on screen when running the direct3d tests in dxdiag?

Also my monitor has been acting wierd and resising the resolution on its own,and when I go to check the graphic settings in the properties, and click on the tab for the card The monitor goes garbled and has multi coloured lines on it for a few seconds and then clicks on and off before returning.

Anybody have any ideas in this?Thankyou.

Very important that your motherboard drivers and DirectX are up to date when gaming. See what chipset is on your motherboard, most likely VIA or Nvidia and update those.

    Hi,

The motherboard is a nVidia Geforce 4 Platinum. But the drivers are updated and directx 9.0c is installed on the machine. Anything gaming wise involving Direct3d just looks the same. All these blocky triangles and constantly moving pixels everywhere. Thanks for trying to help me out here as I am stumped.
