DirectShow Player?

I just tried to watch the trailer for the new "King Kong," but got the error message 'cannot create DirectShow Player.' So, where can I get this DirectShow Player? Also, in the corner of the error box, it had the letters 'npdsplay.' My vid card is an FX-5700 Ultra running on DirectX Version 9c, if that helps. Drivers for the card are 78.01. THANKS!!!

 

Start, run and type in regsvr32 jscript.dll then OK.

If that doesn't work, post back with your operating system, what format the trailer is in, and what media player you are using.

 

Thanks for the reply Insomniac, I appreicate it. I did as you suggested and alittle box came up and said it succeded. However, I went to play the trailer again, but received the same error message. I'm running Win2000 Pro (SP4), WMP 7.1, and I have no earthly idea what format that trailer is in! It's a Windows Media Stream. I just opened that link on my kids computer (Win2k w/SP4 up to date) but I have WMP9. It's possible that the stream is encoded with WMV9 and won't play in an older version such as yours.

 

You got it Just Playin!!! I took your advice and upgraded to WMP 9 and it WORKS!!! I guess you were right, the old 7.1 that I had just couldn't play the media I wanted, but WMP 9 sure does!! Thanks alot for your time, I honestly do appreicate it! Chaulk another one up for the "Geeks!!"
