    No DX10 for XP...Ever.....

    Are you talking about AlacrityPC?

There is no such thing as a DX10 Vid card..The newer ones are capible but Vista supplies DX10 only......

I don't know, it just says Alky project. Anyways, I just read in some forum that the Alky project is dead.

there is no such thing as a DX10 vid card? then how come they write DirectX 10.1 in the card descriptions?

Because its DX10 compatible..but no card has built in DX10 features.....

oh really? So you mean the card doesn't use hardware acceleration for DX10?

how about dual booting XP and Vista, and use Vista only for running DX10 games?

i use a variation of the alky project version of dx10 in win xp....it says it has support for crysis, cod4, and a few others...I haven't noticed a difference in anything..I don't have crysis. and most games installed in xp don't even think that you have dx10 and force dx9 on you. The installer for it was in russian, so install at your own risk.

I just figured out the program you were refering to..It failed and died..

Yes if you have a dual boot you will then have DX10 included in your Vista install only...

If you have a newer vid card it will use DX10,as its backwards compatible with DX9

It seems a little confusing. But DX10 preview is only in Vista.....PREVIEW being the key word here,as the program has not delivered as of yet..Some use it,most don't like it...I use it at times, but its not that great IMO...

hmmmm here's a quote I got from the DX page on wikipedia: "As of June 25, 2008, only the ATI Radeon HD3xxx and HD48xx series of GPUs are compliant while Nvidia has thus far failed to support DX10.1 on any of its cards."

that means that the HD4850 i'm getting has DX10 functions embedded in the card

    You're not wrong,and you're not 100% correct...

Most newer cards made in the last couply of years have the DX10 artictiture built into them so you can use DX10...

Sorry...DX10 Preview is in FSX with a Vista OS....
