DirectX9.0c error

    Hi geeks, though this may be a small error but, it is very annoying,,,everytime I wanted to play any game such as NFS-MW or any other related application it tells me to install the direct X 9.0c, but it is already installed in my system as my OS is WIN XP SP2,I have done changes in registry and everything, but still no hope, I dunno what to do please help....before there was no problem...but it hass suddenly creeped up, I dunno how and why.Also I have Nvidia 8500GT[256 MB] graphics chipset and it is DirectX10 supported....There are also no problems when I run dxdiag tooo....Please I am counting on you geeks:major...

    Download and reinstall DirectX9 from microsoft update.. should set you straight.

    directx 10 is vista only for the record. As far as dx9, do start run then dxdiag and check the second tab for a list of any problems. No reason for you to be messing in the registry to fix a dx problem as well. A lot of installers don't check but offer a install as well, are you actually having problems running games or just seeing that popup asking if you wish to install.

    yes, whenever I try to play a pop up window shows that my Direct X is not the latest one and forces me to install the DirectX from the micorsoft website or the installation quits, though I have the latest version of directX as I have updated it recently and about dxdiag, there are no problems listed in there.Some of them suggested to remove the Direct X completely through third party software and reinstall it.I have done trying that, but the software isnt detecting that my OS is SP2 and shows the something this sort of error that "Program cannot be executed for this version of OS"....Please help.

    Dont third party tools to mess with directx unless your able to resinstall windows as many will just muddle things up worse.

    Thank you geeks.Yes, I have that installation file with me and I have installed it but still no hope.It still shows the same Direct X9.0c but games which require DirectX9.0c doesnt play, it shows that my direct X needs update....Man, I am really confused....
