Dirty rotten spammers

    I'm not sure if this would make it easier or harder for the moderators, but I have an idea:

    Almost all the spammer accounts I've seen are new member first time posters. Is there a way to set things up so a first-time poster gets a message stating "Your comment is awaiting moderator approval" and the post gets flagged for moderator review before it is viewable?

    Just a thought...

    Most of the spammers were caught in the moderation filter. It didn't stop them from continuing to try though.

    As Adry stated, most are caught in the filters. Either way, the posts are removed and the user account is deleted. The speed depends on how many moderators are on at the time. :major

    Wow missed this new influx, but what many do not se is the tireless work behind the scenes by all the admins and mods to spot potential spammers and spammers and delete them, its a good 30mins a day job for each of the admin/mods to keep up with.

    But we also need and I know many do, the "report a post" option for alerting us to bad posts, doesn't need to be spam but can be bad advise or someone starting an argument when ill advised to do so. I appreciate as do all the team the folk that send in these reports, helps a lot as we cannot see all, all of the time.
