Disable Admisistrator

How could I delete or disable the Owner Icon which is showing messages such as 1 unread message 4 programs running etc.
I'm usually the only person using this computer I just want to get rid of this stuff because its annoying.

Does this Owner icon appear only on boot-up? And there is a message saying 1 unread message, 4 programs running?

And I believe you are using XP, correct?

Click start, run, type in control userpasswords

Do this again, type in control userpasswords2

Under both of these option are menus allowing you to control your log on. I don't have XP in front of me so I can't tell you exactly what to do, but go through the menus to see what you can change. If uncertain about any change you made, you can always cancel out.

I think the unread message is from a messenger service you may be running. Use the program from this page to disable windows messenger;

Thanks peppy, I did what you said and changed over to the classic logon prompt which I prefer
