disable autoarchive outlook 2010

In Outlook 2007, I had a registry hack to disable pst. For some reason on some computers this is no longer working.

I think a security update was KB2412171 back in December 2010. I am currently working on removing that to see if it will fix the 2007 machines.

My issues is, did the same thing happen with office 2010? if so, what was the security update that caused that not to work anymore? Or, what is the reg hack to disable that feature from showing. We don't archive our email and we don't want people tempted to do so. Thanks!

well I just checked this update out and that was a wild goosechase.

If anyone knows of a reg hack to permanently disable that from showing in both outlook 2007 and 2010 that would be great. thanks!

Hi

Did you resolve this? if not you could use the Office Group Policy Templates (have to download the individual ones for whatever Office versions you are using, Office 2007 and Office 2010) and then with the templates using the one, change the GP for Auto Archive to diabled and that should block the options. Downloadble guide on Office 2010 template options HERE and page 147 is the Archive options.

Dont know how many PCs your looking after but Office 2010 does have the Option in the Options > Advanced > AutoArchive setttings to turn this off and just maybe the simple way to disable this option as many end users dont normally start messing with the options > advanced stuff at times.
