    Hi

I recently came into possession of an intel s5500wb server motherboard. Thought it would do for my home server which has it issues with an old asus board.

It fit in my lian li case without issue apart from the front panel connectors, eventually found a pin map and got that sorted.

I now have it running with windows (s2008) installed. However the processor fan is going at 100% all the time.

I believe this is due to the chassis intrusion connector not being present, therefore the mb assumes all the fans on the chassis have failed, a flat processor fan is the result.

Does anyone know how to disable it?

There is nothing in the bios about fans, i tried using speed-fan, no go, doesn't detect the processor fan. I have also tried unplugging the fan, and although nice and quiet the temperature rocketed even while the computer was idling.

I have located what i believe to be the intrusion detection pin on the front panel connector but a not really sure what to do with it now...

    Any help would be great

    Thanks

    Hi Mark,

I have yet to see a case with the intrusion switch. If no switch then no need for the device being enabled. The switch is to prevent anyone running the Comp with the case open.

    Good Luck, Jim
