sometimes i am typing some huge response to a thread and i hit some friggin combo of keys on the keyboard and my browser goes back a page losing all my info in most cases.

can i disable the combo of keys (whatever they are) on the keyboard that does this

Well, you most likely could if you knew what keys you were hitting. As far as I know the only default key that makes IE go back a page is backspace. But backspace only makes IE backup if you arn't in a text box. If you have the cursor in a text box it does not backup.
