Since the technician I called is too stupid to fix my laptop connection, I have to disable my Mac address for it to go through. How risky is running your connection without a Mac address protecting you?

do you mean your IP address? you cant "disable" a mac address. besides, if you didnt have a mac address, you wouldnt be able to communicate with your switch.

ah, just have to go into your router settings and youll be able to turn it off. know how to get into your router?

as for your question as to how risky it is, youll lose the protection of being able to specify what computers are allowed to communicate with your wireless access point. you should secure it otherwise with WEP or WPA. WPA being more secure.
