I need to disable Terminal Services on my Server in order to install the corporate edition of Symantec Antivirus. When I try to stop the service in the Administrative Tools>Services the option to stop or disable is 'greyed' out.

Does anyone know why this is?

    Thank you.

the services.msc plug-in for management console specifically limits us from changing certain services that it believes should not be. trying to saving us from hurting ourselves, rendering machine unbootable, lowering support calls.

try double-clicking to open properties dialog. stop. or if necessary, disable and reboot.

if that fails it's easy to use autoruns.exe from sysinternals.com. msconfig might do it. you could directly edit the registry. probably other startup or auto-run program utilities could. task manager and similar programs, like procexp.exe from sysinternals.com, could kill it.

in mine, i can stop the terminal services service in the normal way in services. vista hp sp1 32. if disabled, it complains a lot to event log, but runs.
