friend of mine has a dell inspiron 2500 series laptop, kinda old but its running XP. we got her a microsoft optical mouse and now we're trying to figure out how to disable the annoying little touchpad that is located in the bottom middle of the keyboard. i couldnt seem to find anything about it in the device manager or anywhere else. anyone have any ideas?

I don't know about that laptop, but my dell has an app called QSet which lets you fiddle around with all sorts of keyboard/touchpad related things... tried downloading that from dell?

Try this:Control panel-system-hardware-device manager-locate the device[should be in the middle somewhere under mouse and pointing devices]click the expand + right click your touchpad and disable, then plug your mouse in and restart.
