I don't know if this is a infection or a software issue. I have windows XP. Example: Firefox is open, outlook is open....I open up a new e-mail to write and in the middle of writing the e-mail box disappears as does portions of outlook and I can now see Firefox with parts of outlook on top of it. If I minimize all then I can call the message back up out of the taskbar. This also happens then I am printing something in Firefox. ctrl print..select the box for 1of1 and the print box disappears maybe leaving behind a few buttons and words. I have ran malwarebytes use avast, repaired outlook, updated windows, used ccleaner, spent hours on the phone with Dell. They can't figure it out either.
    Can anyone help?
    Thnx! Michelle

Have you checked your video card and drivers ??

I have updated all drivers and went thru the inspection process with Dell. They saw this problem happen and are stumped too. He felt it was a resource issue but could not figure it out. Could find the problem. Is there another check-up process I can use?

Since my original post and 3 more hours with Dell on the phone they agreed to replace the video card. I have updated all drivers. Problem still exists.
    Any ideas?

Thet are telling me it is a resource issue and want me to restore my whole machine whihc means my network with be dismantled. That is depressing.

    Greetings, mahlerosa...

Couple of things that come to mind:

    1. Do you get the same symptoms if you boot the machine into Safe Mode (or Safe Mode w/Networking)? I realize that you will lose some functionality (especially printing), but any information about any changes in symptoms might prove useful.

    2. You mentioned Firefox several times - have you tried a different browser, and is Firefox up to date and add-on/extension/plug-in free?

I have now gone thru hours and hours with Dell. They have ran diagnostics on my memory, Installed a new video card, repaired Outlook, ran a repair on windows, I have UN-installed and reinstalled Firefox. I tested it with IE and still the problem. They are telling me they can't help me anymore. They tell my I must run a restore on my machine. Trying to avoid this as I don't think I can put my network back together. Any ideas?
The symptoms are not there in Safemode. But I am going to recheck it again.

    Good evening...

Since you've seemingly exhausted most normal procedures, maybe going through the Read & Run Me First thread is in order. Perform all of the suggested steps, then start a new thread in the Malware Removal Forum and attach the requested logs to your first post(s) in that thread. Be patient - the Malware Removal gurus have a lot on their plates but someone there will look at your logs and let you know if anything looks suspicious.

Meanwhile, please verify the Safe Mode test. It's been my experience that if a Windows machine performs well in Safe Mode but not in Normal Mode, then there's a good chance that some 3rd-party drivers or software are causing the issues.
