Re-formatted the 75 GB HD to hold two partitions, but after re-installation only one, C: 15 GB, shows in 'My Computer' or 'Explore'.

How do I find and recover the rest of the HD? Thanks.

Sounds like you didn't actually format the second partition. Your best bet is to go to 'control panel'-->'administrative tools'-->'computer management'. In the panel on the left, go to 'disk management', located under 'storage'. On the right hand side, it should show a graphical representation of both your partitions. You'll see the 15GB one showing as either NTFS, or FAT32, whichever you formatted it as. You'll see the second partition showing as unformatted. You can simply right-click the partition and choose 'format'. Once it's completed, you may have to reboot, and your drive will then show up in Windows explorer. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. In 'Disk Management' found the balance of the HD as 'unused volume', found the Partition Wizard and lettered and formatted the Partition.

    Wavetar.
looking at this problem and i hope you don't mind my intrusion on this thread but i have a 300gb hard drive C,and its showing 150gb free and approx 30 used ,leaving a missing 150gb which when looked at ,disc management ,it has allocated the missing 150gb to a backup program Acronis and states this 150gb is in a Acronis secure zone .could you tell me how to return this space to the drive C,i am not aware that i ever allowed a partition or does this program do it automatically.

That's OK dogsbody, you're quite welcome to participate in MY thread. That's the whole point here isn't it, to share?

Anyway, in Disk Management R-click on the volume you want to recover. You should get an option to open Partition Wizard, and be able to recover the volume with that.

"i do not get the the wizard option"

Yes, it appears that I found that because I R-clicked on an "unused" volume, it doesn't come up now.

I can only suggest that in Disk management you go up to the Help button and look around in the Index under "Disk', 'Partition', 'Relocating' etc.

Or maybe you should try exploring the Acronis program to see if there is a release option, or even uninstall the program and then go back to Disk management.

Sorry I can't be more specific.
