Disc Cleaning Error & Undeletable files

I wonder if anyone can help me with some problems i'm experiencing



Recently my home PC (windows 2000) has started to slow dramatically and it now takes about 15 mins to boot up and open 1 file.

To resolve this i have deleted a load of music, video and general junk files but it's getting worse for some reason. I've also used SD Fix but alas no improvement.

I've defragged the PC and gone to clean it up but everytime it starts calculating my free space it get's to about 7% done and pauses, i can leave it running all night and it doesn't progress a jot.- any ideas what's causing this and how i can overcome this problem?


The second seems to be a common issue around the forums but all methods that have worked for other people seem have so far failed with me.

I have some random Mp3's, Mpgs, Txt files etc that refuse to delete. They do not play, they don't do anything yet they have no specified pathway, no properties and will not move from the directory they are in. I have tried deleting them in dos prompt but dos prompt says it cannot find the files. I have also tried naming files similar to them to overwrite but that has not work, and i have tried and failed using Killbox & moveonboot.

Can anyone help me please as My PC's driving me mad

First and foremost, please follow the instuctions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide to ensure you have no nasties on your system. Otherwise, any further steps may be completely pointless as malware may be undoing your work, and performance may be lost.
