disc drives suddenly don't work...

Device manage says both are working properly but when you insert a disc music or otherwise, it won't automaticly play (if its a self starter...) and if you use the run command line, it says "insert disk"

What's up with this? I've tried error check and restart but same problem...

Oh incidentally, now I seem to have a drive "F" as well, for DVD?? I don't remember that being there before either.

 

On the drive F:, did you use a cdrom emulator program recently ie. MagicISO, PowerISO. Daemon Tools? They usually set up an extra drive. If you did you can look around in options and try to find "Set Number of Drives" or similar and change it to zero.

On the other regular cdrom drives do they show in My Computer? If you have a commercial music CD in the drive is the title displayed in My Computer? I'm just trying to figure out if you mean AutoRun doesn't work or you can't get the drives to recognize any discs.

 

Anything noteworthy happen between when your drives were working and when they stopped? Like dusting your comp, upgrading, or installing software of some kind?

very handy... don't know if it works for any other driver loss problems but it worked for this one.


However the problem with my Roxio program it seems it that there's a conflicting program claiming use of the cdrw drive somehow.

I'm over'ta roxio's forums to see if they've an answer to the problem.
