I recently finished a build for a friend and when he tries to play things in windows media player, the colors are all distorted or flourescent and stuff. I had this problem with my PC but i fixed it (cant remember how)... You might not want to be too technical with your post because he isnt the best with computers...

this is likely a video Codec problem. Try downloading the latest versions of the DivX and Xvid codecs

For this one, get the Play bundle and follow the instructions right below the link to install JUST the codec and not the divx player (as it is not needed)
    http://www.divx.com/divx/codec.php

and here is the Xvid codec

Alternatively, you can download VLC media player, which plays virtually everything.http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4674
