In doing a Check disk with Win XP I get a message verifying index $I30 in file 48421 and then in the next stage "recovering orphaned file 48438,48440, etc., etc., etc., into file 48421. Any clue what this is all about? Thanks, David

    No idea.

Did you click start > my com... > right-click the drive > prop... > tools > check now > check both boxes > ok? It should fix any errors.

I did have both boxes check. No clue what you mean by I don't want bad clusters reported. By the way, after it finished the check disk thing it started all over again!!

scan disk takes 5 passes. Depends on the size & speed of the drives, it can take a long while.
