disk error, press any key to restart

I came home to a black screen with the message

disk error
press any key to restart

well, that's all the farther I can get, I hit a key and it posts the message again. I've turned it off and on again, and I get the same error. what do I do?

yeah, I never use the floppy drive. My little brother had a computer problem and downloaded a hard drive disk check program and left the floppy in the computer. Windows did an automatic update that required a restart, and bam, I'm a dumbass! Thanks for looking, and you're welcome for the laugh.
