    Hi

I'm trying to create a portable simple mechanism for capturing a disk image that I can subsequently load as a VM into Suns xVM virtual box. I'm thinking a boot CD or USB with image software on it.

Anyone got any recommendations on what software is best (even if I've got to buy it)

    Thanks

You could use an Acronis bootable rescue disk on any computer to create an image of its system partition, and store it on a portable external drive. It would infringe the Acronis license and wouldn't work in Virtual Box because of all the hardware incompatibilties.

    Not a practical proposition imo.
