I just bought a zen v plus mp3 player. I want to create a partion with C: drive (Wins XP Pro) so My Computer can recognize my player as a removable devise. Can this be done like adding another Hard drive?? If so, How can I do this?? I am have trouble getting my comp to recognize this player. My Computer recognizes it as "MY ZEN". I want to do this so I can hand pick my songs that I want added to my player w/ ease. Thanks for your posts. ODIE

I think the MP3 player's software makes XP see it as 'My Zen' and not 'removable device'. It should work the same though. I have added music to several different MP3 players. All I do is open the music folder with the songs I want to add. Then I open the MP3 player (in your case right click and open or just double click on the 'My Zen') You should see the songs in your MP3 now. Then just click and drag the ones in your music folder to 'My Zen'.

Musksnipe: Thanks for your post. That seems to be the only way that I can use this devise. Most of my music is in Wins media player which does not recognize the player. So far I have to locate my music in Search and then transfer it to creative media explorer and syn to the devise. Its like gaing all around your thump to get to your elbow if you know what I mean. My other smaller mp3 players(flash drives) are much simpler to use. You pay for what seems to be a much better mp3 player only to have so much trouble to control it I was informed that these devise would function w/ Wins media player w/ no problems. I was hoping that I could force wins to except this devise and recognize it for what it is. There must be a conflict between Creative and wims software. Anybody have any thoughs on this?? Again thanks for your post. ODIE

According to Creative it has a simple drag and drop file transfer
"Simple drag and drop your data files between ZEN V Plus and your computer. No complicated or messy driver installations necessary." &
"Maximize it as an external storage device that stores your important files and documents"
My Zen M has the option to partition the drive under accessories > removable drive.. I had it create a 4gb partition of my 30gb mp3 player...look around the menus.

    Hope it helps..

foogoo: Thanks for your post. Are you saying that you are able to "Drag and Drop file transfers" without Creative software installation?? Wins XP allows you do this??
I tried to partition my Zen V + 2GB (512mb) for my music. But nothing shows it as a removable devise. Creative RemovableDisk Manage says: "Please set your player to removable disk mode and connect your player". It tells me this when I am connected to the comp. Do you know if I can Reboot the player? If I can and start over maybe I can get it programed as a removable Devise. Any sugestions? I tried to Reboot but It fails. Thanks again for your post. ODIE

All of the "quoted text" comes straight from Creative's website about your device. Mine (Zen M) has the option under extras>removable disk.

Foogoo: Thanks for your post. Appreciate your help. My main concern is will my Player be recognized by other comp?? My comp recognizes my player only thru creative installed software. Planing to make a tri tp Atlanta to spend a week there and was wandering if My grandson's comp would recognize my player. If not, then I must take my software w/ me. What do you think?? Any advise in this matter?? ODIE

    Hey everybody!
I just tested this out a bit with my ZEN Vision M

You can configure a portable media device using "Creative removable Disk Manager" , which creates a partition on your Zen which is recognized by Windows XP as a mass storage device just like a conventional USB Stick without any additional driver installation. (Tested this with a virgin XP installation)

The Partition behaves just like any other mass storage device - I can drag and drop files - delete - rename a.s.o.

The Data on this "removable Disk" can be played on my zen just like I would have copied it via Zen Media explorer.

Hope this helps! Greetings from Austria

Rainmak3r: Thanks for your post. This is the function that I am not able to get my Zen V Plus to do. Creative Tech support has given me all the info to do this to no avail. I can do everything w/ thier software but thats asfar as i can go. I have tried to Reboot the player so i can strat fresh and cnt do that. It is fully functioning except for Partioing as a removable devise as you have stated. Thanks again for your post. ODIE
