DVD + R, RW disks cannot be overwritten or erased. No clue why... tried Acronis and Nero. Cannot find a format tab on file menu in Windows XP Home.:cry

If the discs were finalized after burning, then they cant be erased. If it's a new, blank, then some software will format it before use (nero)

    1. Any kind of disk that is marked as +R or -R can only be written to once. It cannot be erased. It is a limitation of the disk. The only eraseable disks are +RW or -RW.

    2. Put the RW disk into your DVD-RW drive and open up "My Computer". Then right-click on the DVD-RW drive when it has registered the disk and choose "erase" from the menu.
