    Hi Guys

I have a strange version of this error. It is strange because it is intermittent. Sometimes the pc boots, sometimes it doesn't.

When it doesn't it displays either the above error or it cannot find the master disk. Any suggestions as to where I should be looking?

hard drive and/or Controler is failing

    BACK UP ALL DATA IMMEDIATELY

    and replace the hard drive

That is what my thoughts were, so have already told my mate to back up anything they don't wish to lose.

When I actually get hold of the pc I will run some diagnostics on the drive.

Would a bad cable cause the above error? I'm asking because I'd first replace the ribbon cable just to rule that out.

Not a bad idea plodr but I must admit I haven't yet had a Sata lead go wrong.

Ah, I've heard that the SATA cables can work out of the connector a lot easier than IDE. Open up the computer and be sure the cable is firmly attached.
