Disk recovery software

Can anyone recommend a disk recovery program?

I made a backup of all of my family pictures on a DVD using the BurnAway Free package. I then used the same software to what I thought would be to add more pictures to the DVD. Unfortunately, I found out the DVD was wiped clean and the new pictures were added.

I did but the instructions said to run it on the affected drive itself. It doesn't recognize the DVD drive (G) when run from my computer or when run from the DVD itself (burned it to there).

 

You can only add more files to a DVD that already has files on it if the disk was first formatted for Live File System. If, as most disks are, it was formatted as Mastered then you cannot add more files. RW disks can be erased and then re-written but the previous files are permanently lost which is what has happened here..

Is there any software that I can use to recover the lost pictures?

 

None that I'm aware of I'm afraid.
