Disk repair utilities ???

MY brothers is hard disk can't do a scandisk anymore win xp Pro.

it always crash or hang at the same place....

Is there a program that will check for error and bad sector
i found this here is this the only one !!!

Has he tried running chkdsk /f /r from the recovery console?

You can get a free download of Ultimate Boot Disk (try Google) wich you can burn to CD. It is not for the faint-hearted using this but it can save a computer from extinction.

 

You can download the Ultimate Boot Disk right here at Major Geeks. However if the drive is a NTFS volume none of the tools will work, as you need full Read/Write Access to the NTFS volume and the NTFS module on the UBCD is Read-Only.

I am using NTFS and UBCD did the job.

 

I shouldn't have said none but instead used the word most. What tool(s) did you use from the CD?

 

Sorry, on looking through my disks it was in fact a Seagate bootable disk I used to scan the drive. This can be downloaded from Seagate's website.
