Diskeeper Lite caused errors

I installed Diskeeper Lite not long ago from the downloads page, and it recently caused two separate problems on my computer until i uninstalled it.
Firstly it inserted itself into the Path variable under My Computer properties in Environment Variables, giving me a dll error when starting Spybot. Second, and maybe related, i'm not overly savvy about this stuff, it was causing windows not to recognise my AVG installation as valid anti-virus, then giving me a security warning saying i may not have anti-virus installed.
Both of these issues were immediately solved once i uninstalled Diskeeper Lite and restarted once.

 

What OS are ye running? (95, 98, ME, 2k, xp, vista).

 

Running XP Pro service pack 2

 

I'd take note of the Environmental path that was changed, and edit that.

Re-install that program and see if it still causes errors.

Knowing the exact errors could help.

 

I copied the path before and after re-installing:
prior to - %SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem

after - %SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Executive Software\DiskeeperLite\

I restarted, it doesn't give the dll error starting spybot, nor does it give the anti-virus not found message.

The previous dll error message upon starting spybot was this - "This application has failed to start because framedyn.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

I found a thread on the spybot forums about the error here - http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=668 - and using info from that and the link to microsoft in that thread is what lead me to finding the entry in the variable, which prompted me to uninstall to begin with.
