I'm not sure if anybody would be able to help me .. but here we go.

My friend has a Dell laptop which got flooded with spyware and pop-ups and all that junk. He ended up reformatting it because it was all messed up, but somehow the video drivers did not re-install correctly. He tried to re-install the drivers numerous times and then called up Dell. He sent his computer to Dell and they installed a new video card for him, it's a GeForce 4, but the display is still a bit off. When he goes to his system properties it does not recognize that the display drivers are installed and it gives him that yellow question mark symbol next to the "Display Driver" category. I tried to download and install the newest GeForce 4 drivers from Nvidia's website last night, because I figured that was the problem, but after installing them and then restarting the computer it still did not recognize the drivers. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks a lot.

Maybe Dell's download page might have something. You could even enter the service tag of the laptop to get to the drivers available for that specific machine.

Okay thanks for that suggestion. Where would I find the service tag number? I'm pretty sure my friend wouldn't know because he's not too computer literate ..

This happened to me also with my ge force fx. My hard drive went out and i bought a new one. But when i tried to reinstall my video drivers from the cd and online, it would say start in safe mode, start windows with is most recent settings that worked, or start windows normally. It usually lets me go to the start windows in the most recent settings that worked, but once, it wounldn't let me do anything but safe mode, so i had to reformat my comp. And when i plugged in a chord in the back to see if it would apear in my tv, the same thing happened again. I don't want to live in fear of my comp ****ing up and me having to reformat. What the hell is wrong with it? Btw I have a maxtor hard drive and a windows xp.

Service Tag number, it is on, label on the bottom of your laptop, (little white sticker says service tag number, and has bar code too) Is possible someone has removed some folks just dont like stickers.

I have a Dell Laptop, either in Bios or on Everest program I've seen my service tag number.

    Run everest:

I think it will tell service tag number (maybe)
will also give you all kinds of info of your rig, and provide links for drivers and such.
Will tell you exactly what graphics card you have.

I apologize for my stupidity, but I don't think I quite get what you are saying.
    And I don't have a del. I have some gateway from 2002 I think.

YAY!!! NVM I fixed my problem. I went to bio settings, and switched my driver thing from pci to agp and it worked. I am so proud of my self.
