I bought a Windows 10 notebook recently. It had been working fine until recently. Now I have a strange problem. When I sit idle on a page for only just one minute or so, the page disappears and immediately goes back to before the logon page (clock/date page). This is very aggravating! I have changed the display and power settings all to "Never". Yet it still continues to do this. I have Googled this problem and have not seen any solutions so I have come here hoping someone can help me and tell me what is going on and how to fix this. I can't think of anything else to add. Appreciate any help. Thank you.

A couple more things I should add. After a few minutes the clock/date page, when sitting idly will go to black. And if click on the clock/date page it goes, of course, to the logon page, but when I sign in it goes automatically back to the web page I was at initially! This is all so very strange. I hope I can get some help with this. Thanks.

Firstly you need to check that when you sign in to Windows you are using an 'Administrator' account.
Have a look at this guide and check all your settings again carefully and if any changes now needed click on 'apply' and 'ok' before leaving the screens.

If the above doesn't resolve the issue we will have to look at other causes.

First, do understand the builder of any new system that comes pre-installed with Windows is responsible for Windows support for one year.

    Have you scanned for malware?

You say this happens when on a "page", do you mean webpage with your browser? And does it only happen when browsing?

This problem can occur due to some incorrect or corrupted data in the Registry. I recommend opening a "elevated" command prompt (Run as administrator) then enter: sfc /scannow (note the space before the "/") to run the System File Checker tool.

Problem solved. But not from what was suggested. I tried foogoo's suggestion first. It was a registry hack and power options/display tutorial. I thought this was going to fix it but I was very surprised when it did not. When I got to the final step-adjusting the settings on 'console lock display off timeout' it was set to one minute. I thought this was it as my screen, as explained went to the clock/date page in one minute. So I set the minutes to 100 and restarted. I was so disappointed to see the screen again go off in about a minute, so I knew it couldn't be that. I tried the System File Checker next, but the scan showed no problems. I closed it in disgust for the night. Resumed trying to figure this out today. I remembered something called 'Screen Saver'. It just popped into my mind as I had some problems with that in the past. So I typed in screen saver and it took me to a website about how to adjust its settings. I was surprised to see this under Appearance and Personalization. I really think this should be under Display. Anyway, I got to the Screen Saver and was floored to also see it set to one minute! So I set it for 100 minutes and prayed. Success...the screen stayed on continuously. What a relief from this very aggravating problem!
Even though I fixed this I still have a couple lingering questions:
    1. What is "Console Lock Display Off Timeout" compared to Screen Saver? I ask this because the problem solved with the latter not the former.
    2. Why are both set by default to just one minute, any theories?
    3. @Digerati-What exactly do you mean by what you said:
First, do understand the builder of any new system that comes pre-installed with Windows is responsible for Windows support for one year.
My computer is an HP. Do I take this to mean HP will cover any costs in fixing or replacing my machine for one year? What does "is responsible"mean? Or would I contact Microsoft not HP for help. I did not know this.

Thank you all for trying to help me solve this problem anyway.

Screen saver either turns off the signal to the monitor, or puts some animation on it so no fixed image sits displayed on the screen for a long time potentially causing a "burn-in" on the screen. It is used to protect the monitor.

Console lock means you have to enter your password to lock it. It is used to protect your security in case you have to leave your desk and forget to manually log out. I don't know why or how yours got set to one minute, but it seems to be a common event.

Windows OEM/System Builder licenses (which is most likely the license version of your Windows) requires the builder (and Windows installer) of the computer to provide Windows tech support for 1 year. This is because the builder (HP in this case) got the license at a HUGE discount.

Full "retail" licenses cost more, in part, because Windows tech support is provided by Microsoft for 1 year. Note this is just for the operating system. Any hardware warranty support will be provided by the hardware maker and/or assembler.
