I just bought a Acer AL1916W Black 19" 8ms Widescreen LCD Monitor from Newegg.com -Link I'm still getting used to the different brightness levels and such, but there was one thing that bugged me. I popped in my 'Producers' DVD and the video quality just wasn't there like it was on my 17in Proview CRT. It was almost as if I was watching a VHS video on the monitor instead of a DVD. I was really surprised. The color, seemed washed out in the video, but ok everywhere else. It seemed that the video was choppy and had jagged edges. Really weird.

I'm running the monitor at its native resolution, and I have all my drivers and operating system up to date. I also ran through the nvidia control panel optimization wizard, as well as tweak some settings my self. Any help or info on this matter would be greatly appreciated! :)

    My system specs:

    Windows Pro - SP2
    AMD 64 - 3700
    ASUS nForce4 Ultra Motherboard
    2GB PC3200 Ram
    XFX 7900GT
    WD 250GT SATA HDD

Did you reinstall your graphics drivers once you had the new monitor in?

Also, is it just this dvd that does it?

No, not after I hooked up the new monitor. But I did just update them about two weeks ago so I have the latest version.

So far from what I can tell, its only with DVDs. But I did notice that some images, not pictures, but 'clip art' type images and icons tend to be more jagged or changed than they were on my CRT. I suppose this could just be me noticing the differences as far as brightness is concerned between the monitors as well, but the quality of the DVDs is what throws me.

    Thanks for the response.

Well, the current drivers are the plug and play ones form Microsoft. I tried to update the drivers and point to the ones you gave me, but the instillation said there were no better drivers found.

I should also note that games (So far F.E.A.R and Civilization IV) look fantastic! It's just a problem with DVDs and smaller images. They tend to be more jagged than they were on my CRT.

Which all could be normal for an LCD, I'm just not sure.

maybe crank the refresh rate up to it's maximum, ive read that that is better.
