One night I went to bed and left my computer on. When I woke up the monitor was all messed up. Any black or dark area on the screen leaves a horizontal 'ghost' all the way across the screen. I used this as an excuse to buy a fancy new flat screen monitor and of course when I attach it the same problem occurs. So obviously it's not the monitor itself. Something else has gone wrong with my computer. Does anybody have any clue or idea what would be causing this? I opened the computer case up and found one fan isn't working, my only guess is that somthing overheated and melted. Please please please someone help me. My computer also freezes constantly. I know that is a pretty generic description and that it could be anything, but any outside opinions would be greatly appreciated. Is there a diagnostic tool I could use?
    Thanks,
    Kiel

This will be hard from afar. Replace the fan immediately!!! Get a diagnostic utility that can monitor temperature. Your PC locking up can often be traced to heat or memory issues, in this case, a broken fan leads to heat issues.

From there, if video is hosed still, I would borrow a video card and monitor from someone and do a quick swap one at a time to see what works. Any computer store will do exactly that anyhow, so might as well do it yourself.
