Display properities - desktop

Some questions:

(windows xp sp1 pro eng)

My wallpaper list is locked i can't change anything, is this any reg. tweak or what ? anyone knows how to undo this !?

Where are the windows default wallpapers, i want to remove them!

Im talking about Display properities - desktop _ background

What do you mean by "Locked"? You can't delete them from the wallpaper settings window in Display Properties. You have to go to the folder they're stored in.

In Win95 & 98 that was the \WINDOWS folder.

Starting with WinME though, Windows now can store wallpapers in the \My Pictures folder in your documents folder. If they're not in your Windows folder then they're in \My Pictures.

are you in classic mode? That doesn't look like the display control panel I have. It's possible that you're somehow removed that tab using a policy editor? Have you messed with the policies??
It's also possible that the contorl panel is just plain screwed up, in which case you might try extracting it again from the i386 folder.

 

ok it just dawned on me, you have "themes" where I have backround.
DO you have Plus! installed?
THat's probably the issue, if plus is installed then try uninstalling it, since in your other thread you mention that you don't use sounds or anything. That should give you back a normal control panel.

If yours was hijacked by a so called antispyware like mine was then you need to go here instead,.

ok at the Start > Run prompt type gpedit.msc

then find your way to User Config > Admin Templates > Desktop > Active Desktop > Active Desktop Walpaper - Then Disable it

Little different but thats what I had to do.
