working from a different computer, so might miss something.

about 5:30 P.M. my computer was working just fine. just got DSL installed so decided to update things.

    Pent 2 - 450mHz
    352 Mb RAM
    WIN-XP PRO
    Monitor: HP vs15 flat panel

Don't normally use the admin user (viruses, etc) except to when need to do updates. when I would logon as the admin, some files would automatically copy (couldn't see what they were, too fast, not up long enough (one was a .dll), possible malware or virus??) did some searching on this site, but found nothing.

now after trying to update Windows my screen displays in a shade of pink. The Windows boot page, instead of displaying the lettering in white, it is pink, and all pages & programs have a pink tint to their display also.

I have tried to update drivers for the monitor and video card, but both show as up to date.

help, the pink hurts too much to watch it too long.

have you tested the monitor on another PC? a pink tint usually means the monitor is dieing.

Thanks for the input. I powered down my PC (again) and moved my monitor to my laptop, worked just fine. moved it back to my PC... works like it is supposed to!?!?!?

    Thanks.

This could be simply because someone messed with the monitor color settings itself and increased the red value. Unplugging the monitor from the wall would cause it to lose its programmed settings thus resetting it to default settings and solving your problem.

Please note, not all monitors lose settings immediatly after unplugging. Most monitors will take many hours to days before settings are lost, but a few (mostly old monitors) lose there settings immediatly after being unplugged.

Check the settings on your video card.

My monitor went yellow just before it died... Really Yellow. But it wasn't consistent, and smacking it with my hand cured it on occasion. I'd recommend buying another one now while you've got monitor left.

I recommend Tiger for Monitors. They tend to run a tad cheaper on them for some unknown reason.

they can probably afford to from all the money they save scamming people on rebates:cool:
