It's probably just removed by windows. It'll occasionally gripe about unused Icons. Open your start menu, find Mass Effect there, and right click to create a shortcut. You might have to drag it onto the desktop though.

it's icons where missimg in the start menu as well, which is strange as all my icons for all the other pc games i ha installed on my pc where there but i even tried to create a shortcut it's prgram directory and it crashed windows explorer (which i've had happen on a few other files i would try to create a shortcut for) and i've tried everything i could think of to repair it and i know it wasn't virus related (my antivirus program found nothing) and i know it's not hardware related) so i wiped my hard drive and reinstalled windows xp sorry about my long winded answer.:-D

Not a problem. That is weird. Have you checked for viruses lately?

Yes i did check for viruses and none where found, I installed mass effect again (with patch and bring down the sky addon) because i reinstalled xp and after 3 or 4 hours it's icon is still there (i must have done something before that i shouldn't have done).:-D

Probably just a windows glitch. At one point, I lost all my Start Menu shortcuts, and had to hunt down the ctual programs to play.

Windows simply requires a complete reinstall occasionally There's no reason for it, it just has to have it to function properly.

i think i found my problem, it was my hard drive!
i put in a sata hard drive from my old hp machine (i did a low level format to erase it)
and so far it's running great!:-D

Yeah, sometimes that'll do it too. :-D

I need a new connector for mine. They aren't as tough as the old IDE connectors that you could hit with a hammer and not break.
